Lake Tianchi, the deepest alpine lake in the world, is found atop a dormant volcano in Jilin Province. The impressive lake holds 2 billion tons of water and sits at an altitude of 2 kilometers above sea level.
Despite the clean, pure water, the lake contains few fish due to low levels of oxygen.
For a glimpse of lake, a winding, 10 kilometer road will take you to the nearest scenic spot.
