Global News published this video item, entitled ““Absolutely amazing”: William and Kate meet mourners at Sandringham after Queen Elizabeth’s death” – below is their description.
William and Kate, the new Prince and Princess of Wales, greeted members of the public and viewed floral tributes together outside of Sandringham, U.K., on Thursday.
The royal couple solemnly viewed the carpet of flowers, notes and balloons near the gates of the private home of the late Queen Elizabeth II in Norfolk, which has been the private home of four generations of British monarchs since 1862.
”I hand-shaked with William, I said hello and he said hello back and he walked off and he came to my brother,” 10-year-old Poppy Tucknall said. “They just bonded so much because they talked for a long time.”
”It’s a historical moment,” Poppy’s mother Emma Tucknall said. “My youngest, she won’t know about the queen so much, but now she’ll learn about the king more. She’ll have that in her life whereas we have obviously ever known the queen. So for everybody to come together, it’s absolutely amazing.”
Queen Elizabeth’s body was brought to London on Tuesday from Edinburgh. She died last Thursday, Sept. 8, in Balmoral Castle, her Scottish summer home, at the age of 96 after 70 years on the throne. Her coffin now lies in the centre of Westminster Hall on a purple catafalque placed on a red platform. Her state funeral will be held in London on Sept. 19.
