ABC News (Australia) published this video item, entitled “A year on from AUKUS and there is no clear plan for nuclear submarines | 7.20” – below is their description.
It’s now been a year since the Morrison government shocked France by announcing it was cancelling a multi-billion-dollar contract to build Australia’s next generation of submarines. Instead, we entered an agreement with the US and the UK which would, in part, see one of these countries providing us with nuclear submarines, a decision which inevitably comes at a greater cost.
Now, a year on, we still don’t have a decision on which submarines will be chosen and there have only been increasing questions about the capability of the Americans or the British to provide them. Chief political correspondent Laura Tingle reports.
