Zhang Chaoliang is currently the first secretary and working leader of Ditu Village, Baiyun Town, Pingbian County, Yunnan Province. Zhang Chaoliang is a native of Baiyun Town. One of his wishes has been to do something for his hometown. He helped Ditu Village build a drinking water project and transform industries from ecologically destructive practices, such as farming bananas and ginger, to industries that protect ecology, such as growing oranges, persimmons and mangoes. After several years of efforts, all the 268 households registered as poor in Ditu Village have been lifted out of poverty. Zhang Chaoliang said, “Zero poverty is not the end, but a new starting point.” He and the villagers strive to embark on a new journey of the economic and social development of the village.#zeropovertyby2020
