Ceremonies were held in Washington, D.C., at the Pentagon and Congress, as well as New York City on Friday to mark the 19th anniversary of the terror attacks that destroyed the World Trade Towers and damaged part of the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001. Joe Biden and Vice-President Mike Pence both joined the ceremony at the former site of the World Trade Towers, while a separate ceremony was held at The Pentagon, with the U.S. Secretary of Defense addressing the mourners. Pence also attended another ceremony at the 9/11 museum in New York City. Nearly 3,000 people were killed when two hijacked jets slammed into the Twin Towers, with a third hitting the Pentagon and a fourth crashing in a field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
