Jimmy Kimmel was on stage at Staples Center, central command for camera feeds relayed from 130 nominees socially distanced at home or elsewhere in 10 countries and 20 cities. The virtual ceremony went smoothly despite producers’ concerns that the plan to link 100-plus nominees remotely could result in glitches.
