Sky News Australia published this video item, entitled “200 police deployed to police social distancing on the Gold Coast” – below is their description.
Sky News host Paul Murray says while 50,000 people were able to watch the Maroons win the third game of the State of Origin, 200 police have been deployed to police coronavirus social distancing along the Gold Coast. “One of the other tools the politicians have is the story book that is goldilocks and the three new COVID rules. This is where, in Victoria you get a scenario where four kilometres, that’s ok, six kilometres will kill you, but five kilometres is just right,” Mr Murray said. “Just last week, while the 50,000 people were able to watch the Maroons win the third game of the State of Origin,” Mr Murray said. “The weekend before, people in the Valley were able to dance for the first time in months. “Yet, school leavers have not been able to have the official school leavers, but still the Gold Coast still exists and they’re still able to go to the Gold Coast, but guess what they’re going to do? Deploy 200 extra police, not to police public drunkenness, not to police drug use, but to police coronavirus social distancing.”
