1 dead, 7 injured in central England stabbings as police hunt for suspect

Global News published this video item, entitled “1 dead, 7 injured in central England stabbings as police hunt for suspect” – below is their description.

Police in Birmingham in central England said they were seeking a single suspect in relation to a series of stabbings in the early hours of Sunday that resulted in the death of one man and left another seven injured, two of them seriously. The victims of the attacks appeared to be randomly selected, police said, and the incidents did not target any one community or appear to be gang related. Superintendent Steve Graham said the incident was being treated as a homicide and investigated by West Midlands Police, stressing that “there’s absolutely no suggestion at all that this is terror related.” A knife was visible to a Reuters witness beside a drain in Edmund Street. West Midlands Mayor Andy Street said the series of incidents in the Hurst Street area of the city centre appeared to be related, but the motivation for them was not yet understood.
