New Swedish Ambassador in Tokyo to be Lars Vargö

Lars Vargö has been announced as the new ambassador for the Swedish embassy in Tokyo. The diplomat has been Sweden’s Ambassador in Seoul, Republic of Korea, since 2006. He has previously been Ambassador in Vilnius and has held various positions at the Embassy in Tokyo. He has also served at the Embassies in Tripoli and Washington.

Mr Vargö will take up his new post in the autumn of 2011. He will replace Mr Stefan Noreén, who has served in Tokyo since 2006. Mr Noreén also served as Ambassador to the  Federated States of Micronesia, the Republic of the Marshall Islands and the Republic of Palau whilst in the post.
