New Colbie Caillat Album “All of You” Released in the USA, July 12th 2011

Colbie Caillat’s new album “All of You” will be released through Universal Republic Records, on 12th July 2011.

Rapper “Common” is featured on “Favorite Song”, which she wrote with Ryan Tedder along with “Brighter than the Sun”. Toby Gad, Jason Reeves, Rick Nowels, and Justin Young all collaborated on the album.

The album was written about Caillat’s relationship with band mate Justin Young. The two had worked together for years, with Justin singing backup at her shows. Then, as she sings in “Brighter Than the Sun,” “this is how it starts – lightning strikes the heart.”:

“He was in my band for two years before we noticed that we like each other. I wrote most of this album about us, our ups and downs. All the songs are about life experiences, so I guess this record is more grown up, with a somewhat wiser perspective.

“When we had video treatments for ‘I Do’ come in from directors, everyone wanted to do a wedding scene. But it’s not about getting married, it’s about saying ‘I love you.’ Really, it’s another song about Justin, about wanting to say ‘I love you’ to someone and still picture yourself growing older with them.”

The first single from the new album, “I Do”, (above) debuted at #1 on iTunes, is receiving Top 5 airplay in Europe and is a Top 15 Hot AC single. The track has a laid back, mellow, acoustic air in the style of Jack Johnson. Perfect BBQ music.
