NATO Chief in Ukraine for Talks

The NATO Secretary General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, is in Ukraine for talks on the border crisis with Russia.

Mr Rasmussen travelled to Kiev on Thursday 7th August 2014 and met with Mr Arseniy Yatseniuk, Prime Minister of Ukraine, Mr Pavlo Klimkin, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as Oleksandr Turchynov, Chair of the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) of Ukraine.

The meetings took place against a backdrop of retaliatory economic and trade sanctions between Europe and Russia following Russian involvement in pro-Russian unrest throughout Ukraine’s Eastern region.
