Bentley has today unveiled its new Continental GTC at the Qatar International Motor Show in Doha.
The new Bentley GTC Convertible features a powerful 575PS 6.0 litre, twin-turbocharged W12 engine, complete with new quick-shift transmission which, the car maker tells, enables faster gear changes than ever before.
Alisdair Stewart, a Board member for Sales and Marketing at Bentley Motors, told:
“We are delighted to be here in Qatar with the new GTC. It has always been the most emotional model in the Continental range and a showcase for Bentley design. With its tailored soft top, the GTC is a pure British convertible true to those classic Bentleys of the past. However, the technology, performance and overall design excellence invested in this model means that we are now writing a new chapter for the Bentley convertible driver.”
Bentley’s other car at the Qatar Motor Show is the Bentley Mulsanne, which the maker tells is doing “exceptionally well in the Middle East.” The Mulsanne features a 6.75 litre V8 engine, and, like the Continental GTC, features an entirely hand-crafted cabin. The Middle East accounts for 15% of the Mulsanne’s sales globally.
According to the company’s sales statistics, Bentley is bouncing back to pre-recession levels, and, in December 2011, delivered 1059 cars to customers – it’s second highest monthly figure in history.
The company expects 2012 to be a big year, driven, particularly, by the launch of the Contenental GTC – if this attractive cabriolet can perform as well in the showroom as it does on the road, the company could be in for another strong year in terms of sales.
