Aston Martin have discreetly confirmed that the Aston Martin V12 Zagato will go into production, albeit in limited numbers.
The V12 Zagato was produced in collaboration with the car design consultancy Zagato, as a modern interpretation of the Aston Martin DB4GT Zagato of 1960. It went on debut exhibition at the Villa D’Este Concours, where it won the Concorso d’Eleganza Design Award for Concept Cars and Prototypes. The award led Dr Ulrich Bez, Chief Executive of Aston Martin to say: “Based on the reactions of our customers to this race car, we hope to offer a road-homologated Zagato in a small, limited number.”
The concept cars also successfully completed one of the world’s toughest endurance races, the Nürburgring 24 Hours, demonstrating that they are as reliable and powerful as they are beautiful.
Head of Motorsport, David King, said: “In a very short lead time after Villa D’Este we approached the Nürburgring race with two concept cars and the aim of finishing the 24 hours as the ultimate test for the V12 Zagato and we are very satisfied to have achieved that.”
Although Aston Martin have denied that it will being going into production, it did confirm that a statement would be made in the next few weeks on the future of the supercar.
No details of when it will be made available or the price have been released.
