This wine is a gorgeous honey gold color.
It has swirling aromas of buttery toasted oak, vanilla, hazelnut and backdrop of apricot and white peach. The aroma wafts out of the glass and makes a wonderful first impression.
The palate is silky smooth and creamy, with luscious tones of melon and nectarine.
Overall Impression: Certainly a lush and dense white wine – a concentrated offering with luxurious floral & fruit tones.
Pairings: Enjoy this wine with a perfectly grilled swordfish.
2008 Pisoni Pinot Noir ‘Miura,’ Santa Lucia Highlands
Monterey County, California
This wine packs a wallop of ripe fruit intensity. This fruit jumps out at you with black cherry, blueberry and plum fruits, and hints of forest and exotic seasonings.
The body is bold and rounded, with velvet smooth texture and an intense and long-lasting finish. The wine is very earthy and quite tannic but it is not to be missed.
As the vintage is 2005, it has been resting comfortably, and you would do well to drink it now and into 2012 or 2013. I suggest a decanter for a few hours to let the full flavors develop. It has a pretty heavy oaky beginning, but after an hour or two of settling down, the magic happens.
Pairings: Enjoy this wine with Filet Mignon and mushrooms.
