Boss the basics – How to fry an egg – BBC Good Food

Barney Desmazery is the longest standing member of the BBC Good Food cookery team and has been turning out some basics recipes for those caught out by lockdown. Here he demonstrates two different fried eggs – one to top a croque madam and the other to top South East Asian and South American dishes:

Ingredients

  • One Egg
  • 1-2 tablespoons sunflower oil

Method

  1. Heat sunflower oil in a pan to a medium heat
  2. Crack your egg into the pan and cook it very gently
  3. Spoon some hot far over the top of the white
  4. Take care not to bubble too much (or you’ll overcook your egg)
  5. When the egg is done, lift it out of the pan and serve
