Its Pancake Day on Tuesday 8th March 2011 – also known as Shrove Tuesday – which is the last day before Lent in the Christian calendar, when ingredients were traditionally used up prior to fasting.

Nowadays, while relatively few people fast for lent, many people – of all faiths around the World – do enjoy pancakes on Shrove Tuesday, but, even within family groups, opinions can be divided on what is the best way to top the floury food-stuff.
