Dalmore has launched a new single malt Scotch whisky – “The Exclusive” – chosen by its distillery experts working on the shores of the Cromarty Firth.
Formed from a 1991 whisky aged for 20 years in American white oak casks, the bottling produced 450 units of which 200 were pre-sold ahead of release. The remaining 250 bottles each contain 70cl, cost £150 and are only available from the distillery itself in Rosshire, Scotland.
The Dalmore Distillery describes the limited edition as “generous and rewarding on the nose” with “aromas of warm citrus fruits, toffee apple, luscious mango and creamy caramel followed closely with notes of bitter dark chocolate, apricots and figs”.
As if that wasn’t enough, the distillery tasting yielded a palate of “thick chunky marmalade, roasted Java coffee, crushed pecan nuts and liquorice. Fleshy pear, honey, vanilla and the tang of caramelised crème brûlée”.
Located in Alness, the distillery has links to the Mackenzie clan dating back to the 1200’s. A member of the clan is said to have rescued Alexander III from being gored by a stag, resulting in the use of the stag emblem to this day.
