Pelé’s Sportswear Brand Unveils New Trinity 3E Football Boots

Pelé’s sportswear brand has unveiled the new Trinity 3E football boots, ready for the Spring Summer 2012 season.

The unusual stud profile and ultra-light materials used in the production of the new design have created something of a stir.

The trademarked material “Symbioskin” – a tri-laminate material designed specifically for the Trinity 3E – was used to form the upper part of the boot. The man-made exterior of the boot is not leather, but a fibre-reinforced lightweight polymer, giving the “barefoot” experience that so many modern athletes are looking for. Formula One engineers worked with the Pelé designers to minimise the structure of the boots, shrinking the weight to just 170 grams.

The University of Essen-Duisburg tested the ergonomic value of the ground-breaking asymmetrical stud pattern which had generated so much interest. Under the direction of Professor Ewald Hennig in the department of Biomechanics, the boot was found to boost push-off and traction – essential to the swift side-step ahead of a match-winning goal.

Professor Hennig said:

“The boot gives the player the advantage in a small or tight space scenario, allowing players to be 40cm closer to the ball in a kicking action. For longer manoeuvres, players can have the advantage of being up to 1.5 metres closer to the ball on the field.”

The out-plate of the stud system is designed to stop players from rolling over the ankle – one of the most common football injuries. With an average of 2.7 injuries per team worldwide, injury prevention is a key selling point.

As for aesthetics, the boot is in-keeping with the premium branding associated with Pelé’s previous product offerings, leading the ISPO BRANDNEW awards to name the Trinity 3E the Most Innovative Product in Footwear 2012. Suave matt and gloss black exteriors are highlighted with lime green contrasts.

Kevin Visser played in the boots for ADO Den Haag during a match against Ajax Amsterdam in the Dutch premier league (Eredivisie) before Christmas. The lime green and black colour scheme perfectly matched the team’s away colours and the boots’ appearance in a professional game was a massive endorsement of their performance.

The Trinity 3E is out now with an RRP of £150
