US Supreme Court to Review Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act

The US Supreme Court will review aspects of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act put forth by the Obama administration.The White House issued a defensive statement on the news, saying that it had asked for the review itself and that “we know the Affordable Care Act is constitutional and are confident the Supreme Court will agree”.

The National Retail Federation welcomed the news, saying “NRF looks forward to hearing the Court’s view in the coming year as we continue to work with the Administration to make the law more workable and efficient for America’s employers and retailers, and balances coverage and costs” .

The review will cover issues of jurisdiction between Federal and State government as well as any resulting severability issues.
