Joshua Ziminski, the man accused of firing a shot before Kyle Rittenhouse during the 2020 Kenosha riots, is set to begin trial on Monday. Ziminiski is being charged with felony arson and a misdemeanor count of use of a dangerous weapon. A jury is expected to be selected on Monday and opening statements could be presented on Tuesday before Kenosha County Circuit Court Judge Bruce Schroeder, who presided over the Kyle Rittenhouse trial in 2021.

In other news, evidentiary hearings for Scott Peterson, the man convicted of murdering his wife and son continue with the defense asking Shareen Anderson, a documentary filmmaker of “The Murder of Laci Peterson” to be called to the stand. Plus, opening statements are expected to commence Monday in the Michael Barisone trial, the former Olympic horse train accused of attempted murder. Finally, the federal trial of accused Sarah Lawrence College cult Lawrence Ray is back in session and will continue on Monday.

On August 25, 2020, amid the unrest in Kenosha, Wisconsin, USA, after the police shooting of Jacob Blake, Kyle Rittenhouse, a 17-year-old from Antioch, Illinois, shot and killed two men and wounded another man in the arm during confrontations at two locations. He was armed with an AR-15 style rifle, and the individual wounded by Rittenhouse was armed with a handgun. Rittenhouse had said he was there to protect a car dealership from being vandalized and to provide medical aid and was carrying a medkit. He is standing trial in November 2021 for these acts.
