Justice&Peace: Three Charged in Death of MI Teen, Fmr Deputy Faces Charges for Planting Drugs

Three people were charged in the death of a Michigan teenager. Staff at the Youth Academy was charged with involuntary manslaughter and child abuse. The staff restrained a 16-year-old after food was thrown. The teen was restrained for 12 minutes before medical Care was received. A video shows at least six staff members were holding down the teen. Cornelius Fredericks died on May 1st, two days after the incident. The cause of death was stated as homicide resulting from restraint asphyxia. Lakeside Academy is alleged to have a history of abuse. The family of the teen has filed a lawsuit against the Academy.

A Former Florida deputy is facing charges for planting drugs. Bodycam footage allegedly shows him planting drugs on motorists. Zach Wester, 27, face more than 70 charges. Former deputy Wester’s actions date back to 2016. Wester is to appear in court on September 15th, the trial is set for November 20th.

Brooklyn DA released a report on wrongful convictions. Analysis: Convicted spent combine 426 years in prison. Report: 84%. Actions of State, 65% police conduct. NYC attorney general says the report is motivated by politics.
