Giuliano Amato has been sworn in as a Judge of the Constitutional Court in Italy. The ceremony took place in the Quirinale Palace before the President of the Republic, Giorgio Napolitano.
Attending the ceremony were the President of the Senate, Pietro Grasso, the Chairman of the Chamber of Deputies, Laura Boldrini, the President of the Council of Ministers, Enrico Letta, the Vice President of the Constitutional Court, Luigi Mazzella, the Minister of Justice, Annamaria Cancellieri, the Under-Secretary of State at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Filippo Patroni Griffi, the constitutional judges in office, the judges emeritus of the same Court and other representatives of the state.
The President of the Republic appointed Professor Giuliano Amato to replace Professor Franco Gallo, who has ceased from his duties as Judge and President of the Constitutional Court.
