In a difficult case, a teenager with severe learning difficulties is found in a burnt out flat. DS Matt Devlin (Jamie Bamber) and DS Ronnie Brooks (Bradley Walsh) go through all the possibilities including the accelerant used and the broke corner shop below which they suspect of an insurance job. After sifting through the evidence, they are left with a startling conclusion.
Meanwhile a ropey defence lawyer forces the prosecution to take care of the primary suspect and chart a course which they believe offers the fairest outcome. The judge’s horror at the inabilities of the defence helps to ease the way. Meanwhile James gets a laugh at the cocksure junior but not before Alesha Philips has to endure his cringeworthy chat-up lines.
