Jordan to Get $1 Billion Star Trek Entertainment Resort

Jordan is to get a new $1 billion resort in Aqaba based on the 2009 film, Star Trek. His Majesty King Abdullah II of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, famously made a non-speaking appearance on an episode of Star Trek: Voyager in 1996 (the middle character in blue, above).

The Red Sea Astrarium (TRSA) is being creatively developed by Paramount Recreation under license from CBS Consumer Products. The 184-acre resort will feature ancient Middle Eastern culture as well as Star Trek-themed entertainment. Theatrical productions and adventure experiences will amuse the guests of the five star accommodation.

Rubicon Group Holding, who are designing and producing the attraction, estimate that the development will generate around 500 jobs. It will also serve as a centre for sustainability with a new education centre explaining the greywater harvesting, solar and wind energy technology utilised by the park.
