Japan Earthquake 11th March 2011: International Flight Information

International flights to Japan have been disrupted following a major earthquake and tsunami in the country. Flights to Tokyo Narita Airport and Haneda Airport have been diverted.

Narita Airport

A statement from Narita Airport said:

Vehicles only to pick up passengers can enter and leave the airport through the number 2 Gate.

Passengers need to stay only at designated areas on arrival lobby and at bus gates within the security area that have been confirmed to be safe. Blankets, water, and food are provided.

Some departing flights are in service.
All arriving flights will be redirected to other airports.
For more details, please directly contact airlines.

Railways are not in service. Highways are closed.
It is expected that they will stay closed at least today.

Airport staffs are in place where passengers stay. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask them for help.
Please stay calm and listen to airport staffs carefully.

All Nippon Airways released the following information:

Earthquake in Japan(Northern part of Miyagi Pref.)

Operation information on 11 March
Flights from to some airports in Japan  may be delayed, canceled, diverted, or return due to earthquake in Japan.
Please check schedule of your flight above “Flight”.

Following airports have been closed due to earthquake in Japan.

Sendai・Tokyo Narita

Operation information on 12 March
Operation on 12 March will be announced as soon as a decision is made.

The lines of ANA reservation center are busy now.

Cathay Pacific Airlines

A statement at Cathay Pacific Airlines said:

Flights to Tokyo-Narita and Haneda affected due to earthquake in Japan

Cathay Pacific’s flights to Japan have been affected after a massive earthquake hit the coast of north-eastern Japan. Narita airport in Tokyo is currently closed.

The latest status of today’s flights is as follows:
CX520 (Hong Kong-Narita) has been diverted to Nagoya
CX530 (Taipei-Nagoya) has been diverted to Osaka
CX450 (Hong Kong-Taipei-Narita) has been diverted to Osaka
CX451 (Taipei-Narita-Hong Kong) is now on ground in Narita
CX549 (Haneda-Hong Kong) is now on ground in Haneda
CX510 (Taipei-Fukuoka) is on schedule
CX564 (Taipei-Osaka) is on schedule

All Cathay Pacific passengers and crew at the affected airports in Japan have been accounted for and are safe.

Our Reservation office in Tokyo is currently closed. Self Check-In services for flights to and from Narita, Haneda and Sapporo are currently suspended.

Due to the uncertainty of flight operations, customers with onward flights to Tokyo via Hong Kong may not be accepted for travel at their departure port. We will assist with alternative flight arrangements once flights resume.

Customers are advised to check flight status before departing for the airport. Please input your contact details in Manage Booking to ensure you receive the latest updates via SMS and email.

It is likely that flights to Japan may continue to be affected in the coming days. We will monitor the situation closely, especially the operation status of the affected airports.

Cathay Pacific has issued ticketing guidelines for customers travelling to Tokyo.
