ITV: “Midsomer Murders – The Noble Art” 13th October 2010

A World Champion boxer in Midsomer sets hearts and wallets a-flutter, but the return of the hero to the village is not quite the hero’s reception that was intended. The intrigue focuses around dealings with the local solicitor, Giles Braithwaite and his nosy assistant, Iris.

DCI Barnaby enjoys the celebrations with his wife as a Victorian prize fight is re-enacted in the grounds of Avuncular Manor and local artist, Libby Morris, unveils a bronze sculpture of the historic local boxing hero, Tom Sayers.

Meanwhile, tensions over inheritance with the host of the party raise DCI Barnaby’s eyebrows.

If you’re a fan of Midsomer’s unusually high body count and chocolate box approach to murder mysteries, make yourself a cup of Earl Grey and settle in for a satisfyingly twee village thriller.

“Midsomer Murders – The Noble Art” will be screened on ITV1 at 8pm on Wednesday 13th October 2010.
