Grace Millane’s mother tells killer ‘you’ve ripped a hole in my heart’

The mother of murdered backpacker British backpacker Grace Millane has told the 22-year-old’s killer that she is tormented over ‘the terror and pain she must have experienced at your hands’.

Speaking to a court via video-link, Gillian Millane said her daughter, who died by manual strangulation during sex while travelling in New Zealand in 2018, was a ‘beautiful’ and an ‘innocent young lady’.

A 28-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been sentenced to life with a minimum of non-parole period of 17 years in prison for Millane’s murder.
