The remaining two FA Cup 2011 Fifth Round matches took place on the evening of Wednesday 2nd March 2011, with four teams battling to make it through to the Quarter Final Sixth round stage of the tournament.
Arsenal 5-0 Leyton Orient
Arsenal came through their Fifth Round Replay in better style than the first match, as their superior possession in this match at the Emirates Stadium had more end result for the Gunners than in the opening encounter.
Chamakh settled the hosts’ nerves with a goal after 7 minutes, before Bendtner added a brace of goals before half time giving the Gunners a 3-0 half time lead.
Bendtner completed his hat-trick on 62 minutes before Clichy wrapped things up with a goal after 75 minutes which gave Arsenal the 5-0 scoreline in a match which was every bit as comfortable as the scoreline suggests. Leyton Orient, coming from the middle of League Two, can be pleased with the spirit they displayed to force this replay, and will hope their season gets a boost from the experience of playing Premier League opposition in one of the best grounds in the game.
Arsenal are rewarded with a difficult Sixth Round trip to Manchester United’s Old Trafford in what is set to be the tie of the round.
Man City 3-0 Aston Villa
Manchester City ensured their progress to the quarter final stage of FA Cup 2011 with an emphatic 3-0 win over Barclays Premier League rivals, Aston Villa.
Yaya Toure hammered home after 5 minutes before Balotelli doubled the lead with a delightful half-volleyed finish which went in off the post on 25 minutes.
The returning Silva put the result beyond doubt with the third and final goal on 70 minutes, giving City the 3-0 win in a match they dominated. Villa, who came into this match in good form, could only muster two shots on target from 90 slightly lacklustre minutes of football.
Man City have a home fixture against Reading of the Championship in the Sixth Round.
