Aldershot 0-3 Man Utd
Manchester United recovered from their 6-1 humbling at the hands of neighbours City on the weekend with a solid 3-0 victory over League Two’s Aldershot. Goals from Berbatov (15) Michael Owen (41) and Antonio Valencia (48) were enough to put a dramatically different United side to that which lost to City on Sunday through to the next round.
Arsenal 2-1 Bolton
There was to be no let-up for this season’s underachieving Bolton Wanderers, as they saw a 1-0 away lead slip to a 201 defeat at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.
Muamba (47) had given the visitors the lead, but goals in quick succession from Arshavin (53) and Park Chu-Young (56) gave the gunners a home win that sees them, once more, through to the 5th round of the Carling Cup.
Cardiff 1-0 Burnley
20 year olf Joe Mason was on target for Cardiff City on 40 minutes to give the home side a narrow victory in this all-Championship tie.
Crystal Palace 2-0 Southampton
Another tight second-tier affair was settled in the second half. Crystal Palace grabbed a goal from the returning Darren Ambrose on 73 minutes and the result was put beyond doubt nine minutes later when Jermaine Easter tucked away a penalty on 82 minutes following a foul on Williams by Saints’ Dan Harding.
