Two Barclays Premier League football matches took place on the afternoon of Sunday 7th February 2011.
Chelsea 0-1 Liverpool
After the big money purchase of Fernando Torres by Chelsea from Liverpool for £50million just one week ago, there was a real edge to this match, but it was to be the visitors, Liverpool, resurgent under newly returned manager Kenny Dalglish who took the three points at Stamford Bridge with a 1-0 win.
In-form midfielder Meireles grabbed the winner for Liverpool on 69 minutes with a close-range finish from a Steven Gerrard cross.
The result means Liverpool are up to sixth. Chelsea remain fourth, but are now level with Spurs who are fifth. Liverpool are now just six points behind Chelsea and Tottenham.
West Ham 0-1 Birmingham
West Ham returned to the bottom of the Premier League while Birmingham pushed away from the botton three following their 1-0 away win at West Ham.
Nikola Zigic scored the winner for the visitors on 65 minutes when he headed home a Sebastian Larsson free kick.
