Two Barclays Premier League football matches took place on the afternoon of Sunday, 14th November 2010, as league leaders Chelsea and title contenders Chelsea were both in action today.
Arsenal travelled to Everton looking for a win to get their title challenge back on track. The Gunners picked up a vital three points with a 2-1 away victory to end Everton’s recent unbeaten spell in the league. Arsenal goals from Sagna and Fabregas either side of half time looked to have sealed the victory for the travelling Londoners, before Tim Cahill scored on 89 minutes to give home fans some hope in the final minutes.
Cheslea hosted Sunderland and the visiting Black Cats produced a stunning display from start to finish to upset the league leaders and holding champion’s apple cart by looking every bit worth their shock 3-0 victory. Sunderland were impressive, with goals from Onuoha – a wonder-strike – the in-form Gyan and Danny Welbeck giving them a thoroughly deserved away win that puts them up into sixth in the league.
Today’s result means that Chelsea are still top of the league, though their margin is reduced to two points. Arsenal, with today’s hard-fought win, are into second place, one point ahead of Man Utd. Manchester City, who, like United and Chelsea, dropped points this weekend, are a further three points back in fourth.
