Three Barclays Premier League football matches are scheduled for the evening of Wednesday 29th December 2010.
Chelsea v Bolton – Kick-Off (GMT) 19:45
Chelsea meet Bolton at Stamford Bridge enduring probably their worst patch of league form for three seasons. Following Monday night’s defeat to Arsenal, Chelsea were leapfrogged by Spurs, who won yesterday at Newcastle, and currently sit outside of the UEFA Champions League qualification top four places.
Bolton, who are enjoying great form themselves, may pose a real threat to the wobbling Chealsea team. If the travelling Northwesterners can get a result and win in London, they’ll overtake Chelsea in the Premier League table. Carlo Ancelotti’s men have their work cut out.
Wigan v Arsenal – Kick-Off (GMT) 19:45
Arsenal travel to Wigan knowing that these sort of matches have caused them substantial hiccups this season, and with a place level on points at the top of the table beckoning should they be able to continue Monday’s solid form. Wigan, however, need a point to get out of the bottom three, so, with home support, they could well prove difficult to break down.
Liverpool v Wolverhampton – Kick-Off (GMT) 20:00
Both Liverpool and Wolves need a win to get this season back on track, and, as Wolverhampton have shown in good (albeit losing) performances against Man Utd and Chelsea this term, they have got the fire-power to worry even the best defences in the country. Liverpool do not have the best defence in the country. There will almost certainly be goals at Anfield, but, if recent form is any indicator, expect most of them to be picked from the Wolverhampton net tonight.
