Film: Janet Jackson and Whoopi Goldberg Star in “For Colored Girls”

For Colored Girls is a story originally performed as a play called “”For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf” by Ntozake Shange. It was showcased in a New York theatre in 1975.

The story covers a group of black American women who suffer at the hands of those they love and a society which places them at the bottom rung.

Now depicted by Thani Newton, Whoopi Goldberg, Janet Jackson and Macy Gray, the tale has been given a blockbuster facelift for the big screen.

The film will hit the cinemas on 10th December and looks set to scoop up a clutch of awards for its raw portrayal of domestic violence and sisterhood.
