FIFA World Cup 2010: South Africa 23 Man Squad

South Africa yesterday announced their 23 man squad to take part in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, which the country will host from 11 June 2010.

South African coach Alberta Parreira took the bold decision to drop the country’s highest scoring player, 32 year old Benni McCarthy, who plays for West Ham United in the Barclays Premier League, along with four other players who were in the list of unfortunate cuts from the original 28 man squad the coach had initially selected prior to the June 1 deadline for this 23 man squad.

Goalkeeper Rowan Fernandez of Armenia Bielefeld and PAOK’s right back Bryce Moon also miss out on playing for the host nation.

  1. rsa is most strength team and they r home team they making serious trouble to big teams

  2. what a progressive squad.all south africans must rally behind the squad selected by the coach.people must stop making unneccessary comments questioning why other peole are not selected.unfortunately it is the rule of fifa that the team (squad) should have 23 players to participate in world cup tournament.if it was not because of that rule the coach could have kept all his players.

the coach made a decent decision and selected a squad of players whom are inspired by their national pride.at least we will not hear of national team players being influenced by people whom think that they are special to strike for salary increment.SUCH PEOPLE NEEDS TO BE GIVEN ENOUGH TIME TO SPEND WITH THEIR FAMILIES.

ke nako………….feel it………….it is here mzansi
