FIFA World Cup 2010 Group H: Honduras 0 – 1 Chile

Chile got their FIFA World Cup 2010 Group H campaign off to a flying start with a solid 1-0 victory over Honduras this afternoon’s early kick-off.

Beausejour scored in the 34th minute of a first half that Chile dominated almost from the start with a well taken, if somewhat fortuitous, goal that bounced in off a defender.

Despite the 1-0 scoreline, Chile looked every bit the Group H second favourites as they created many opportunities throughout this match. Honduras will be thankful that Valladares had an excellent game in goal to keep the scoreline respectable.

Chile needed the win today as their remaining group matches are to be against Switzerland and the strongly fancied World Cup 2010 favourites, Spain.
