MotoGP: Dorna and MotorLand Aragón Extend Contract to 2016

MotoGP will take place at MotorLand Aragón until at least 2016 after it was announced today that Dorna Sports, MotorLand Aragón, and the Government of Aragón had reached agreement on a deal to keep MotoGP at the Spanish circuit until 2016.

The deal was signed this morning at the Headquarters of the Government of Aragón. The following signatories were present:

  • Dorna CEO Mr Carmelo Ezpeleta;
  • Vice President of the Government of Aragón and President of MotorLand Mr José Angel Biel;
  • Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism and Vice President of MotorLand Mr Arturo Aliaga;
  • General Director of the Aragón Institute of Public Works and CEO of MotorLand Aragón Mr Antonio Gasión.

The agreement confirmed that MotorLand is to be a permanent circuit on the MotoGP calendar for the next six seasons.

116,000 people attended the MotorLand MotoGP event in 2010, the first such event at the track. The Sunday race day was witnessed by over 70,000 spectators, which went some way to the circuit, having originally been a reserve track for the season, winning the IRTA ‘Best Grand Prix’ Award – in only its first season.

This deal ensures that MotoGP events are set to take place at MotorLand until at least 2016.
