“Hugo” Starring Jude Law and Sacha Baron Cohen Set for UK Release in December 2011

A star studded cast will hit the big screen in December as part of the new blockbuster from the production houses of Johnny Depp and Graham King (The Departed).

The big guns are out for Christmas viewing with Jude Law, Sacha Baron Cohen (a.k.a. Borat / Ali G), Ray Winston and Christopher Lee all packing into the wonderland of Hugo. The blistering cast is tied together by the direction of veteran Hollywood bigwig, Martin Scorsese.

The story follows in the blockbusting success of stories such as Alice in Wonderland, the Imaginarian of Dr Parnassus, The Golden Compass and Harry Potter by following an orphaned Parisian boy into a dreamland of quirky Victorian science and adventures in extra-dimensional lands. When Hugo Cabret’s father leaves him living with an automaton in the walls of a Parisian station, the boy finds an adventure which involves friendship, bravery and danger – can he solve the mystery of the magician’s designs?

The film is based on Brian Selznick’s novel The Invention of Hugo Cabret which is not only a children’s novel, but also a picture book with illustrations by Mr Selznick himself. The writer studied at The Rhode Island School of Design before working in Eeyore’s Books for Children in New York City where he painted the window and learned about writing for children from his boss Steve Geck.

“Hugo” will be out in cinemas worldwide at the end of November / start of December 2011.
