Wajir wins prima luna handicap at meydan 2011 under ted durcan for godolphin

The Fifth Race of the opening 2011 Dubai International Racing Carnival at Meydan, UAE, was the 21:05 Prima Luna Handicap run over 2435m (approximately 1 mile and 4 furlongs).

The race offered total prize money of $120,000 USD, with $72,000 USD for the winner, and prize money down to 6th place. It was the second event on the card to be run on the Turf course. Official Going was Good.

The race was won by Wajir who burst through under Ted Durcan to win by five or six lengths for Godolphin’s first winner of the 2011 Carnival. In second place was Equiparada and Christophe Soumillon, a length ahead of the closely grouped Pompeyano and Telluride respectively in third and fourth places.
