This Morning published this video item, entitled “”They Told Me More People Need To Die Before The Law For Cyclists Is Changed” | This Morning” – below is their description.
Mother-of-two, Kim Briggs was just 44-years-old when she died from ‘catastrophic’ brain injuries after cyclist Charlie Alliston (19) crashed into her in 2016. Cleared of manslaughter, Alliston was sentenced to just 18 months after being found guilty of a crime that falls under a law passed in 1861. Since then Kim’s husband, Matt Briggs has been campaigning for a change in the law – calling for cyclists to be subject to similar penalties to motorists if they kill or injure anyone on the road. With COP26 in full swing, and the need to be cleaner and greener at the forefront of conversation, Matt feels now is the time for change before more people ditch their cars for bikes and put further pedestrians’ lives at risk.
