In a story that echoes the real-life case of Erin Brockovich, when Kate McMurdo’s son Lewis was diagnosed with autism she wanted him to have the support and education he needed but she faced a costly legal battle to force her local council to send him to the specialist school she wanted. Refusing to give up, Kate pressed forward with legal studies, to equip herself with the necessary skills to fight on her son’s behalf. Kate won her battle and Lewis is now thriving in his dream school. Kate joined us today to tell us how she now hopes to use her skills to help others.
