Shepherd and Bremner attempt to keep their rekindled romance under wraps. Competition among the trainees is ruthless and even plays into tensions over the treatment of a colleague who falls ill. Monroe is forced to undertake incredibly risky surgery on his own team member and the skills of the entire surgical staff are needed for the complex case.
An unlikely romance takes most, but not all, of the staff by surprise. Also, the prickly brain surgeon finally plays the big man and reconciles in a small way with his estranged wife and concerned son.
