Forget bikes and buses – electric scooters are the latest way to get around town, but could they be more fatal than fun? One 14-year-old boy is fighting for his life after crashing his into a bus stop in Beckenham at the weekend, days after YouTube presenter Emily Hartridge was killed when her scooter collided with a lorry in South West London. Despite users risking a £300 fine for riding them on the roads, now safety campaigners are calling for tougher laws. Consumer journalist Harry Wallop says this modern form of transport is dangerous and putting lives at risk, meanwhile, Itzik Aharon from Scootin says e-scooters have the capacity to combat congestion and deserve more rights on the road.
