Should Repeat COVID Rules Offenders Face Prison Sentences? | Good Morning Britain

Good Morning Britain published this video item, entitled “Should Repeat COVID Rules Offenders Face Prison Sentences? | Good Morning Britain” – below is their description.

Is it time to get tougher on those who flagrantly flout COVID 19 regulations? Should prison sentences be in place for repeat offenders? This comes after SNP MP Margaret Ferrier who travelled by train from Scotland to London to Parliament and back again despite testing positive. She also visited church, a gift shop, a beauty salon and a leisure centre and despite calls from her party leader, Margaret still hasn’t resigned. It has also been reported that 3 England footballers, Tammy Abraham, Ben Chilwell and Jadon Sancho were all filmed at a packed birthday party over weekend and there is also Jeremy Corbyn who held a dinner party for at least 9 people! Dr Shola Mos-Shogbamimu, lawyer and political activist believes that they should be sent to prison and the fines are not putting people off. Tru Powell, entrepreneur and community activist, says that prison is ridiculous, and will lead to more black people in prison. Finally, Geoffrey Robertson QC who is a human rights barrister has a balanced view, but thinks prison may have to be an option. Broadcast on 07/10/20
