    Freddie Mercury the seal had become a bit of a local celebrity but at the weekend he was sadly attacked by a dog that was off the lead, and had to be put down. The dog’s owner has apologised – and said she wishes the dog hadn’t been off the lead at the time.

    Meanwhile a deer in Richmond Park has also had to be put down after this different dog attack a few weeks ago. With more and more of us buying dogs during lockdown, is it time to get tough and say a dog attack should mean the death penalty for the dog?
