Today, Miley opened BRIGHT MINDED: Live With Miley with a huge announcement on behalf of MAC Cosmetics. As a former MAC Viva Glam ambassador, Miley was honored to share that The MAC Viva Glam Fund will be donating $10 million toward 250 COVID-19 emergency relief organizations. This support will supply MAC’s existing partners with emergency relief funds to provide vital services, including food delivery, medication support, and testing and treating diagnosed COVID-19 cases. You can get involved and support this amazing campaign by purchasing any shade of MAC Viva Glam lipstick, or by sharing a ‘virtual kiss’ of gratitude to those working on the front lines of this pandemic by using the hashtag #VivaGlam on Instagram or Twitter.

Miley also spoke on Live Nation’s “Crew Nation”—a global relief fund for live music crews, as COVID-19 has put these concerts & shows on pause for the upcoming months. Live Nation has committed a total of $10 million in an effort to support the countless crew members who help to bring live music experiences to millions around the world. The theme of today’s episode was Environmental & Poetry. Miley’s first guest was zero-waste chef, environmental activist, and award-winning author of the cookbook More Plants, Less Waste, Max La Manna. Having worked in restaurants for nearly 15 years, Max was inspired to make a difference after seeing how much good food goes to landfills every day. He encouraged the audience to take action to reduce waste in their own lives by making small changes, such as preserving onion skins to make their own vegetable stock, or keeping herbs in a glass of water to prolong them. He also emphasized the need to shop smarter at this time, to ensure we are not wasting food due to over-buying. Lastly, Max demonstrated a recipe combining two of Miley’s favorites—Indian food and pizza!

Next, Miley introduced Riverdale star, Lili Reinhart, to discuss and share some of her debut poetry collection, Swimming Lessons. Lili began writing 5 years ago after experiencing love for the first time. She also talked about dealing with anxiety after becoming famous, and how writing became her greatest form of therapy to put her thoughts and observations into notes. Miley and Lili chatted about Instagram, and how they feel it shouldn’t be a place to create illusions about our lives, but instead to connect with others on both our best AND worst days.

Singer, activist, and poet Cody Simpson was the final guest on today’s show. Cody discussed his work with the UN advocating for Ocean Conservation, as well as his recent work with WWF for Australian Bushfire Relief. He also told viewers about his new poetry book titled Prince Neptune, and even shared a sweet poem from the book that he wrote about Miley. Cody described “Prince Neptune” as his alter ego—comparing it to Hannah Montana or Ashley O. After signing off, Cody surprised Miley by entering her studio to do a special live performance of his song “golden thing.” Miley and Cody then closed the show by performing together “True Love Will Find You In The End” by Daniel Johnston —a song they feel is most uplifting at a time of such uncertainty.

And lastly, just when we thought it was over, Cody broke out his electric guitar to perform a special new “Bright Minded” theme song to send us off!
