In scenes reminiscent of the Oscar-winning film Dallas Buyers Club, a group of parents have joined forces to try and source the drugs their children desperately need. The drug Orkambi could change the lives of the 10,000 people living with cystic fibrosis in the UK, but with the drug not offered on the NHS, families are faced with bills of over £100,000 a year to source it from the US. Christine Walker has teamed up with 9 other parents to try and enforce change, and source the drug themselves from suppliers in Argentina. She joins us this morning with her 8-year-old son Luis, and we speak to Dr Andrew Hill who says the NHS needs to make a change.
