Midsomer Murders is suitably eccentric for the English countryside with a multiple murder among the ornithological society of Midsomer-in-the-Marsh on the land of a former Prima Ballerina.
The attractions of the trophy wife of Patrick Morgan don’t go unnoticed and several men flit around the pretty dancer, including local ne’er do well, Dave Foxely, played by Paul Nicholls. The former Eastenders star is also on air in January 2012 as DS Sam Casey in Law & Order UK. He said of the part in Midsomer Murders:
“Dave is described as a ‘ne’er do well’ and he’s basically a thief, with low intelligence, who has a fondness for the ladies. He likes money and he’ll do something risky and illegal for 20 quid. He lives in a caravan and enjoys a drink and a fight.
“I worked with Neil Dudgeon when I was 16 in a detective drama called Out of the Blue. It was one of my first professional acting jobs and Neil really made me laugh. He is such a fantastic actor, so when I was offered Midsomer Murders I just thought ‘yes’. Jason is also a great actor and a nice guy too.”
The quintessentially English murder mystery has its own in-house fancy-man as the plot of “A Rare Bird” hints at Jones keeping company – perhaps audiences will get to meet the lucky lady later in the series…
Midsomer Murders: A Rare Bird airs on ITV1 at 8pm on Wednesday 11th January 2012 for UK audiences only.
