Mental Health Awareness Week: Ricky Hatton Opens Up On His Secret Battle & Feeling Suicidal | GMB

Good Morning Britain published this video item, entitled “Mental Health Awareness Week: Ricky Hatton Opens Up On His Secret Battle & Feeling Suicidal | GMB” – below is their description.

Ricky Hatton, and son, Campbell join us as Mental Health Awareness Week wraps. Ricky has often spoken at length about how his mental health battles led him to the brink of suicide, and during the course of one particular year (following retirement), the former world champion toyed with suicide at least once a week – “I didn’t care if I lived or died, I really didn’t. I would come to the gym to train with the boys and they’d think I was alright, but I’d go home and sit there crying. Without even a drink in me, I’d get the knife out and do it again.” Ricky says the turning point in his life came when his daughter Millie was born, and on his bad days photos of his children help him remain as positive as possible. One child he’s extremely proud of, as well as incredibly close to, is his son Campbell – who is continuing his father’s boxing legacy. Campbell remembers some of his Dad’s toughest days, and says he’s extremely proud of how far his famous father has come.
