The success of the Lionesses has put women’s football at the forefront of people’s minds more than ever before. There were almost as many spectators during the women’s Euros as there were during the men’s. The Lionesses have raised the profile of the women’s game to the highest points in its history and since January 2020 the two England teams have earned the same amount per match – £2000. But the UEFA prize money available to men is far greater than women. So it begs the question, is it now time that women players throughout football are paid more than men?
