Is It Wrong for Rita Ora to Appropriate Black Culture? | Good Morning Britain

The UK’s Good Morning Britain asked if it is “wrong” for recording artist, Rita Ora, to “appropriate black culture”.

Rita Ora has been accused of ‘blackfishing’ after fans were shocked to discover the 29-year-old star is not black. The singer, who has always been open about her Albanian heritage, was claimed to be culturally appropriating blackness by altering her appearance in order to present herself as black. The practice is said to be rife among social media stars but is it appropriation or appreciation?
